If i could travel I would be at your Wanaka session in a flash - so love the work of the two novelists and am such a fan of Irish writing. The most compelling combo I have seen so far this year.
Also I love the multiple perspectives, like how she once says that Diana is worried she’s put on too much makeup and then later on you see what she looks like (raddled) to the younger ones
Mum has oesophageal cancer and can’t eat and drink, she was supposed to have three good days and then gradually lose consciousness. That was 9 days ago lol and she’s still chugging beer and swilling whiskey and having visitors and chatting. She can’t swallow, she swills and spits. It’s all good, she’s having the time of her life, literally
I’m reading the Cazalet Chronicles in a hospice surrounded by people who talk WAY too much and all the time, and the books are SO SO great. Read them for the first time flying to the UK- they wipe out all the horrendous circumstances, whatever they are.

She sounds like gold - love that you're there to read the best books to her!

They are the best and most absorbing and gossipy books. Hospice though??
